The Juan López Selección No. 1 is a Habano with a rustic look. Its wrapper, made from 3 leaves, displays a slightly veined colorado-claro (light brown). It is entirely handmade. The cap is perfectly flat. The vitola feels firm to the touch, proof that the tobacco leaves are tightly packed. It has small bumps. As for the overall aromatic impression of this cigar, it releases a delightful aroma of lightly toasted tobacco, along with a subtle sweet graham cracker flavor.

Before lighting, the Habano Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 1 is saturated with the scent of Cuban cedar while also being rich in earthy notes. However, these aromas are not dominant, because in the background you can detect the refreshing scent of lemon, a floral note, a grassy nuance, and a hint of cinnamon. Tasted on the lips, still before lighting, the puro leaves a subtle spicy sensation that softens the tobacco and leather flavors along the way. And if the smoker draws on the cigar, he can perceive on the palate the flavor of honey, dried fruit, and milk chocolate.

The aroma range of the Seleccion No. 1 is just as rich once it is lit. The 1st third is dominated by the scent of Cuban cedar. It is tinted with a host of aromas forming a perfect alchemy: grilled notes, lemon, honey, sugar, salted butter caramel, floral fragrance, grass, hay, black and white pepper. In the 2nd third, the earthy and woody notes become even more dominant. The floral touches become subtle while the salted butter caramel and grilled aroma are more pronounced. There is also a slight grassy nuance. During the final third, the aromatic profile is not changed much. The cigar gains a great deal in strength. The dry woody aromas are still there and are enriched with spicy notes, especially cinnamon. The smell of grass also makes a notable appearance.
