A record sale of €2.8 million for the Cohiba 55 Aniversario Edición Limitada humidor

On September 9, the gala dinner took place, bringing to a close the full program of activities commemorating the 55th anniversary of Habanos’ most emblematic brand, Cohiba. The exclusive event, held in Havana, Cuba, brought together people from 43 countries and renowned national and international artists, such as James Morrison, who was in charge of performing the evening’s closing concert.

The long-awaited celebration of Cohiba’s 55th anniversary took place in Havana, Cuba, the birthplace of what is considered the best cigar in the world. Over three days, Habanos, S.A. offered its guests a full program of activities beginning with a welcome cocktail, followed by a visit to the El Laguito cigar factory, and ending with the famous gala dinner.

Throughout the event, attendees were able to enjoy a journey through the brand’s success story, especially the Cohiba launches for its 55th anniversary: Cohiba Ámbar, Cohíba Colección Ideales and Cohiba 55 Aniversario Edición Limitada. In addition, these two unique humidors in the world were auctioned, raising €2,900,000, funds that will go entirely to Cuban public health.


Two years after the last Habanos Festival, Cuba once again welcomed Premium tobacco lovers, and in particular Habano enthusiasts, who, in addition to this celebration night, were able to enjoy an exclusive visit to the iconic El Laguito factory, as well as a welcome cocktail in the El Laguito protocol room.

The final touch was provided by the exclusive gala dinner, which brought together 650 guests from 43 countries and focused on the new releases presented by Habanos, S.A. to mark the “Cohiba year,” with the launches of Cohiba Ambar, Cohiba Colección Ideales and Cohiba 55 Aniversario Edición Limitada.
This dinner was the highlight of all the celebrations held around the world to commemorate Cohiba’s 55th anniversary. An event full of tradition, luxury and moments of enjoyment, with the Habano as the star, earning international recognition from the most discerning aficionados. Since its birth in 1966, Cohiba has stood for exclusivity, tradition and quality. The gala was attended by renowned artists with long careers such as César López, Miguel Patterson and Manolito Simonet, as well as figures from the music scene such as Niurka González, Haila, Lily Daly and Mayko D’Alma, and artists with innovative proposals such as Camila Rodhe, Geidy Chapman, Emilio Frías “El Niño,” Vocal Renacer and Tenores Los Clásicos. The evening ended with a concert by the internationally acclaimed James Morrison.

During the event, and for the first time outside the framework of the Habano Festival, the auction of two unique humidors took place. All the Habanos they contain were made « entirely by hand with long filler » and by the finest torcedores from the El Laguito factory. The proceeds will be fully donated to Cuban public health.
The Cohiba 55th Anniversary Humidor, valued at €2,800,000, contains 550 Habanos from all the lines of the prestigious brands and represents a tribute to the Cohiba success story. Made with precious woods, mother-of-pearl and Swarovski on the outside and okoume and mahogany on the inside.



The Rare Humidor Le Rituel & Cohiba Ambar, valued at €100,000, was created to include a bottle of Rare Vintage 1988 Champagne and 44 Cohiba Ámbar. It is the first in a series of 10 limited-edition humidors handcrafted to order by the prestigious artisanal workshop Elie Bleu, which has been making tobacco humidors since 1976.
The Habanos Awards 2020 and 2021 were also presented to Eulalio Bejarano and Riad Boukaram in the Business category, to Walid Saleh and Angel García Muñoz in the Communication category, and to Vicente Fausto Torres and Nelson Rodriguez Lopez in the Production category.
